How We Collect Your Information

• Directly from you — when you register, update your profile, or contact us
• From iRacing — we retrieve your iRacing customer ID, iRating, and race results via the iRacing data API to operate our leagues
• Automatically — session cookies and preference cookies set when you use the site

Purpose of Processing

We process your personal information for the following purposes:

• Creating and managing your account
• Operating sim-racing leagues — scheduling races, recording results, calculating standings, and assigning rivals
• Sending transactional emails (registration confirmation, league notifications)
• Posting race results and standings publicly on the site and via Discord
• Improving the site and user experience

Legal Basis for Processing

Under POPIA, we rely on the following justifications for processing your personal information:

• Consent — you provide consent when you voluntarily sign up for JT Racing and submit your personal information
• Legitimate interest — processing is necessary for the legitimate operation of sim-racing leagues, including publishing race results and standings, which is a core function you participate in knowingly

You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Third Parties & Data Sharing

We share personal information with the following third-party services, solely to operate JT Racing:

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not share your data for marketing or advertising purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account or request deletion, we will remove your personal information within 30 days.

Anonymised or aggregated race statistics (e.g. historical standings) may be retained indefinitely as they no longer constitute personal information.

JT Racing uses a small number of cookies that are essential to the functioning of the site:

• Objection — object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, and access controls on our hosting infrastructure.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

JT Racing is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.
